American Installation is a presentation of four new installations by seven artists from varied locations. Prepared on-site at the Plaines Project, Chicago during the month of  January, the works presented aim to commemorate aspects of the physical environment of America, inevitably engaging the cultural metaphysics of this large land.

AMERICAN INSTALLATION assumes many forms, engulfing practices beyond the commonly understood "installation" art form.  American Installation expands the notion of installation by shrinking back to isolated forms, hovering between sculpture, the performative, the artifact, and painting.
